IPAS Implementation in Elementary Schools: How Teachers Build Student Understanding

Merging science (IPA) and social studies (IPS) subjects into learning (IPAS) in elementary schools is challenging for teachers. This study aims to determine how teachers build students' understanding of IPAS subjects. The research method used descriptive qualitative through case studies. Data collection techniques using observation, in-depth interviews, documentation were SDIT At-Taqwa KPAD Bandung IV analysis utilizes Miles Huberman's techniques. Based on the results, teacher's way building student by highlighting dominant material between Science Social Sciences; teacher uses a student-centered approach with cooperative models scientific methods as well various types learning, although combination two (IPA IPS) are considered less effective. However, creativities innovations created teacher, process can still run well. implications this classroom an alternative carrying out comprehensively. Besides that, results expected be input policymakers deciding or providing policy curriculum.
